BUMPS

BUMPS which is known as Pseudofolliculities barbae (PFB) is a common problem for people of colour including African, Caribbean, Afro American and Hispanics. This problem is where the hair curves back into the skin due to the thick curly nature of the hair. This problem causes itching and tiny bumps that could later develop into big bumps making the problem worse and cause unsightly darkening of the skin.

CAUSES OF BUMPS

Research has shown that the most common cause of bumps can be attributed to the use of infected and un-sterilized blades, clippers, bad and blunt clipper blades. Generally bumps are formed through inflammation of the hair follicle caused by any of the under listed factors:
Shortly after a hair cut or close shave the hair begins to grow, it curls back into the skin where it bores a hole. When this happens inflammation of the skin occurs and it could result into bumps. Bumps can also develop as a result of bacteria infection of cuts sustained during barbing or using a fake, unhygienic infected and un-sterilized blades or clippers.

Razor Bumps Treatment - treat razor bumps the natural way
Shea butter is a wonderful agent for treating hair so that its moisture retention capacity is enhanced. Hair treated with shea butter becomes softer and more pliable and consequently even curly hair is much less likely to force its way back into the skin. And shea butter not only contains a high moisturizing fraction, but also contains an extraordinarily high healing fraction and so treats the inflammations that the in-grown hair causes. To enhance the shea butter's ability to heal the inflammation, we have infused it with 2 essential oils: patchouli and sandalwood.

RAZOR BUMPS

Razor bumps are similar to ingrown hairs and looks like small tender pimples commonly found at the back of the head. If left untreated could spread quickly and engulf the whole head.

CAUSES OF RAZOR BURNS

The general skin redness abrasion and irritation that result from shaving. The tiny cuts that are caused by shaving are also referred to as razor burns. One of the most common causes of razor burns is using too much pressure when shaving, the excess friction leads to razor burns. Other causes are lack of sufficient skin lubrication and shaving in the opposite direction of the hair growth. The use of after shave and colognes can also contribute to the problem by drying and irritating the freshly shaven skin.

INGROWN HAIRS

Ingrown hairs form when sharpened hair curls back and re-enter the same hair follicle. When this happens, the body recognizes this foreign object and will react by attacking it , thereby leading to inflammation, itching and many unpleasant irritations.

KELOIDS

Keloids are raised overgrowth of scar tissue that can occur on spot of old injury. It sometimes occurs after surgery, vaccination piercing, blisters or skin trauma. They look harden, smooth or round shinny shape. It could be itchy and very painful. Keloids can occur in any part of the body, but commonly found on the chest, shoulder, check, chin, ear lobes, upper back and back of the neck. No one knows why keloids form. Although most persons never form keloids, others develop them after minor injuries or even after insect bites or after acne bumps resolve. Keloids may form on any part of the body, although the ears, upper chest, upper back, and shoulders are especially prone to keloid formation. Persons with darker skin form keloids more easily than those with lighter skin, although anyone can form a keloid. Keloids never turn into skin cancer.

Studies have consistently demonstrated that persons of certain races are more susceptible to keloid scar formation. Individuals with darker pigmentation, black persons, and Asian persons are more likely to develop keloids. In a random sampling of black individuals, as many as 16% have reported developing keloid scars, with an incidence rate of 4.5-16% in the black and Hispanic populations. White persons and albinos are least affected. Alhady's 1969 study found that Chinese individuals were more likely to develop keloids than Indian or Malaysian individuals. Some evidence supports a relationship between genetic predisposition and an individual's propensity to form keloid scars. Genetic associations for the development of abnormal scars have been found for HLA-B14, HLA-B21, HLA-BW16, HLA-BW35, HLA-DR5, HLA-DQW3, and blood group A. No consistent pattern exists in the mode of genetic transmission, which is reported to occur as both an autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive pattern.

Research has shown that Keloids associated with incision or injury can grow bigger and bigger to its full potential and can occur on any part of the body including the genital area.

Keloids could be genetical that is, if any member of the family has Keloids there is high risk of you having it after cuts or mason so it will be advisable to avoid cuts at all time.
